The history of the McBride – Foley Funeral Home begins in November 1925 when Mr. Irving C. Pettit graduated from Eckels College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia. Mr. Pettit then worked for several years in the Paulsboro area as both a Funeral Director and House Painter. Around 1930 a friend of his showed him a property at 228 West Broad Street that he purchased to operate as the Pettit Funeral Home.
The symbol that Tom and I wanted to bring to our funeral home was one that living in the southern part of New Jersey we see quite often. It was a pair of Canadian Geese. The reason we chose this particular symbol for us is that when a goose chooses its mate, it chooses for life. When Tom and I made that commitment to each other that was how we felt. Life comes with no guarantees and we are determined to stay together through the seasons of our lives.

It is with that same devotion that we made to each other and our children that we have toward the families that we serve as funeral directors. We are here to take care of people through the roughest seasons of their lives, standing firm with them together.

McBride-Foley Funeral Home was the first in this area to introduce the Life Tributes Program for honoring the life of a loved one who has passed. Life Tribute Memorial Videos allow the family of a deceased to have a motion picture quality video depicting the life of a loved one.

The memorial video combines the ambiance of nature and its serenity with peaceful music and photos to truly memorialize the memories of a lifetime. A life Tribute Video can be created to be a part of a funeral service or can be done months or years later as a lasting memorial.
