Mrs. Barbara F. Veley

Barbara Florence (Broschard) Veley died at Inspira Medical Center, Woodbury on December 13, 2015 at the age of 85 with her loving children by her side. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 23, 1930, and she graduated from Gloucester High School in 1948. Her former marriage to Hollis F. Veley Jr. ended in divorce. Barbara raised her three children single-handedly. She was proud that they each completed a college education. Most recently, she lived in Clarksboro and Mantua before entering HCR ManorCare, West Deptford, where she has been a resident for the past three years. Barbara enjoyed needlepoint, reading, puzzles, indoor gardening, camping and traveling with her children. Her travels included visiting many of the National Parks, including, Yellowstone, Acadia, Hawai’i Volcanoes, Dry Tortugas, Everglades, but her favorite place was Shenandoah (Skyline Drive) where she camped with her children many times. She was a needlepoint instructor for many years, including teaching other residents at HCR ManorCare. Barbara also enjoyed attending many Veley family reunions in upstate New York. She was an avid owner of several cats at various times, her favorite being Siamese cats. Most of all, Barbara enjoyed the Christmas holidays, decorating her home, preparing between one and two dozen varieties of cookies and breads, and displaying her needlepoint tree ornaments. She is survived by her three children; Hollis F. Veley III of Clarksboro, JoyAnn (Robert) Brooks of Gibbstown, and Michael J. (Sabrina) Veley of Wichita, KS; and her three grandchildren, Benjamin Jamison and Alexander Veley, both of Colorado, and James Veley of Albuquerque, NM and her brothers, Arthur L. (Kim) Broschard of Mt. Ephraim and Frank J. (Connie) Broschard of Amarillo, TX. Her children wish to thank Barbara’s very supporting caregivers at HCR ManorCare and at Inspira. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday December 18, 2015 in the McBride- Foley Funeral Home, 228 West Broad Street, Paulsboro. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday morning after 9:30 AM until service time. Inurnment Private.
