Dottie Bereznai

Doris M. “Dottie” Bereznai (nee Pfeiffer), age 85 years, of Paulsboro, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday October 23, 2007 surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Bereznai was born in Paulsboro where she resided all her life before retiring to Pitman Manor in 2005. She lived with her daughter in Woolwich Township for the last several months. Mrs. Bereznai was a veteran who served with the United States Navy Waves during World War II at the Bureau of Ordnance in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Bereznai was a member of the Billingsport United Methodist Church, Paulsboro, for over 70 yeas and was the second oldest living member of the church. She was a member of the Billingsport United Methodist Women, The Friendly Class, and served her church in various capacities. In recent years she was a frequent visitor with her family at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Swedesboro. Mrs. Bereznai also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Billingsport Volunteer Fire Company and for many years she served as the Daisy Day Chairman for Children’s Hospital, Philadelphia. She retired after eleven years of service as a secretary with Air Products, Paulsboro. Mrs. Bereznai enjoyed flower gardening and traveling with friends and family. During her retirement years she spent many happy hours at the homes of her children enjoying an abundant array of wildlife, pets, and farm animals. Mrs. Bereznai especially treasured time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her family, Ruth and Robert Hunt and Stephen and Jean Bereznai, both of Woolwich Twp., and Patricia and Keith Thompson of Brookline, New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Jared Hunt, Lauren Hunt, Kristi Bereznai, Cara Bereznai, Danielle Thompson, Kurt Thompson; her lifelong friend, Evelyn Gerlack of Paulsboro, and a large and loving extended family. Mrs. Bereznai was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Bereznai, her son, James Andrew Bereznai, and her sisters, Violet Niessner, Hazel Philipp and Ruth Martin Miller. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, October 27, 2007 in the Billingsport United Methodist Church, North Delaware Street, Paulsboro. Friends may call Saturday morning in the church after 9 AM until service time. Interment at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Dottie’s memory to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053 or the charity of your choice.
