Mr. John Cline Sizemore

John Cline Sizemore age 92 years of Gibbstown died Wednesday September 2, 2020 in Advanced Subacute Nursing Home, Sewell. He was born in Kanawha County, Blakeley, West Virginia to the late Raymond and Gertrude Sizemore. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army during World War II in the 514th Airborne Infantry Regiment in Germany. John moved to Gibbstown in 1951 and was a coach/ manager for the Gibbstown V.F.W. Post #5579 and eventually became commissioner for all of the teams in the little league program. He was also Scout Master for Troop 17 in Gibbstown where he saw both Dale and Dean achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He continued in scouting to serve as Commissioner of Scouting in the Southern District of B.S.A. in N.J. John retired after 38 years of service in the storehouse at Mobil Oil, Paulsboro. He was a Life Member of Gibbstown Volunteer Fire Company serving in several positions over the years. John was also a member of the Clarksboro Lodge #87, F. & A.M. where he served as treasurer; he also chaired their oyster and ham suppers for more years than we could count, along with his late wife Jean. He was also a past member of Clonmell U.M. Church, Gibbstown; Paulsboro Sportsmen’s Club; Paulsboro Stag Hunting Club and Crescent Temple Shrine. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time in the Poconos at Eagle Lake with family and friends; he was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing Santa for the fire company at Christmastime. He is survived by his sons, Dale and Linda Sizemore and Dean and Diane Sizemore; his five granddaughters, Megan(Eric) Ballinger, Dawn(Adam) Trainor, Dana Sizemore, Courtney( Chad) Woodruff and Devon Sizemore and six great grandchildren, Fletcher, Luke, Lily, Reid, Henry and Conner. John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean “Honey” Sizemore. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday September 5, 2020 in the McBride – Foley Funeral Home, 228 W. Broad St., Paulsboro. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Saturday morning after 9:30 AM until service time. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
