Michael Croce

Michael Croce age 88 years of Gibbstown died Monday March 31, 2008 in Manor Care, West Deptford. Mr. Croce was born in Paulsboro and lived in Gibbstown all of his life. He was a veteran serving in the Persian Gulf during World War II in the U.S. Army. Mr. Croce worked as a boilermaker for 36 years at Mobil Oil Co., Paulsboro. He was a member of the Anthony T. Calista V.F.W. Post #5579, Gibbstown and a former member of the Paulsboro Moose Lodge. Mr. Croce enjoyed hunting, searching for artifacts, collecting fishing poles and antique lanterns. He was especially proud to be a member of the first full wrestling team at Paulsboro High School where he was a South Jersey Wrestling Champ and state qualifier. Mr. Croce was very happy to have many family members that continued the wrestling tradition and be Red Raiders at Paulsboro High School and he was proud of all of his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Anna Croce (nee D’Amario) of Gibbstown; his children, Michael and Elaine Croce and Fred and Roe Croce, both of Gibbstown; his grandchildren, Michael L., Grace Anne, Gregory, Jonathan and Alexa; his great grandchildren, Cody, Michael III, Gabriel, Anthony, Gregory, Scarlett, Micaiah, Violett and Natalia; his brother, Charles Croce of Mays Landing and his companion Jane; his sisters, Mary and her husband Frank Pedulla of Malaga, Antoinette Gentile of Gibbstown and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Croce was predeceased by his parents, Alferio and Maria Croce; his brothers, Alexander, Vito and Anthony Croce and his sisters, Ida Petrarca, Laura Croce, Esther Van Haren and Filomena Croce. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Friday April 4, 2008 in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 313 Memorial Avenue, Gibbstown. Friends may call Friday morning after 8:30 AM in the church until time of Mass. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. Arrangements under the direction of McBride - Foley Funeral Home, Paulsboro.
