Mr. Robert A. Wilgus

Robert A. Wilgus age 77 years of Mickleton died Tuesday January 3, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Wilgus was born and raised in Woodbury, lived in Mickleton for over 50 years and was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force. He retired as Supervisor with over thirty years of service at the DuPont Experimental Station in Delaware and then worked for fifteen years as a paraprofessional at Kingsway Regional High School in Swedesboro. Mr. Wilgus was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. John’s Church; Past President of the P.T.A. of St. John’s School where he also helped run the annual carnival; past member of the Kingsway Board of Education; Past President of the Kingsway Athletic Booster Association and a member of the East Greenwich Republican Committee. He enjoyed tending to his yard and garage, swimming and biking and refinishing furniture. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Frances Wilgus (nee Psonak) of Mickleton; his children, Lori Beckett and her fiancé Jon Welikey of Mickleton, Sheri and Dennis Burlingame of Clarksboro, Robert and Geraldine Wilgus of Mt. Royal, David and Katie Wilgus of Manahawkin; his grandchildren, Kelsey, Kyle, Rachel, Jonathon, Madison, Cailon, Vanessa, Austin, Liam, Rowen, Summer and one on the way; his sister, Eileen and Hugh Stansbury of Woodbury and his goddaughter, Jill Stansbury; nephew Paul Stansbury and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilgus was predeceased by his parents, Carlton and Elizabeth Wilgus, his brother, C. James Wilgus and his sister, Elizabeth Hendricks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday January 9, 2017 in St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. John’s Church, 7th and Beacon Aves., Paulsboro. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Monday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 AM in the McBride – Foley Funeral Home, 228 W. Broad St., Paulsboro. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, Monroe Twp.
