Ronald Colna

Ronald R. Colna, age 73 years of West Deptford died Saturday May 11, 2013 in Underwood Hospital, Woodbury. Ron was born and raised in National Park and lived in Paulsboro for many years before retiring to Shepard’s Farm in West Deptford. He attended the Paulsboro School system and married his sweetheart, Patricia on August 4, 1962. Ron was a member and played the baritone bugle and tenor drums for the Paulsboro Fireflies Drum and Bugle Corps in the 1950’s and was also a staff member and supporter of the Paulsboro First Defenders Jr. Drum and Bugle Corps in the 90’s. He worked as a die mounter with Western Kraft in Bellmawr. Ron was a member of St. Paul’s U.M. Church, Paulsboro; Paulsboro Volunteer Fire Assn., Paulsboro High School Band Boosters and the Paulsboro Little League where he managed the Heritage’s minor league team. He was a devoted member and first engineer of the Paulsboro Ambulance Association for twenty years. Ron was an avid Red Raider Football Fan and he enjoyed attending drum and bugle competitions sharing memories of the days when he played and marched. He enjoyed attending church, spending time with his family and helping out everyone that he could while making them laugh and smile. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia Colna (nee Jones) of West Deptford; his sons, Ron J. Colna and Frankie Iannelli of Woodbury, Bob Colna and Chrissy Direnzo of Ocean City; his grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Kirsten, Alex, Evan, Kelsey, Alexa and Erica; his great granddaughter, Olivia; his brothers, Theodore Colna of Virginia, Dennis Colna of West Deptford, Raymond Colna of Glassboro and his sister, Dolly Louco of West Deptford. Ron was predeceased by his sister, Lititia Seaton. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM Thursday May 16, 2013 in St. Paul’s U.M. Church, 2 E. Broad St., Paulsboro. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 PM and Thursday morning after 9 AM until service time in the church. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
