William Widener Sr.

William F. Widener Sr. age 80 years of Paulsboro died Saturday September 28, 2013 surrounded by his family. Mr. Widener was born in Camden and was a life long resident of Paulsboro. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and flew 36 missions aboard a B26 Invader with the Black Knights. Bill retired from DuPont Repauno Works after 35 years of service as a pipefitter. He was an exempt member of the Paulsboro Volunteer Fire Association; past manager of the first championship Paulsboro Little League – Senior Division District 13, 14 & 15 team in 1965; Founding member of Paulsboro Midget Football and a lifetime member of the Paulsboro Sportsmen’s Club. Bill enjoyed camping with his family and friends at the shore; was an avid sports fan, with the Phillies being his favorite. He treasured time spent with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports and will be remembered as a kind gentlemen with a heart of gold by his family and friends . He is survived by his children, Cindy and Norman Reichert of Gibbstown, Denise and Carl Alcott of Paulsboro, William Jr. and Georjean Widener of Swedesboro, Kay and Phil Gagliardi of Pennsville; his grandchildren, Jennifer and Lee, Bob and Jackie, Mallory, Stephanie, Ryan, Billy, Jessica and Steve, Kendall, Doug, Nicole; his great grandchildren, Hailey and Brinley; his sisters, Donna and Joe McCall of Clermont, Florida, Bonnie and Sam Midili of Clarksboro and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Widener was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cynthia Widener, his parents, Cora and Tony DiSilverio and his sisters, Lorraine Hethcote and Dorothy Verdinelli. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday October 4, 2013 in the McBride - Foley Funeral Home, 228 West Broad St., Paulsboro. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM and Friday morning after 9:30 AM until service time. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
