Mr. Edmund A. Plucinski Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Edmund A. “Ed” Plucinski age 83 years of Gibbstown died Sunday October 5, 2014 in Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Darby, PA. Ed was born on July 30, 1931 in Philadelphia where he graduated from West Catholic High School. He attended Temple University majoring in Electronic Technology and also the University of Penn where he majored in Engineering and Business. Mr. Plucinski had numerous jobs in the computer field being one of the first to “Debug” computers. In Minneapolis, Minnesota where he met his wife Geraldine; he was instrumental in creating the UPC codes that are on products today. Ed retired as a security analyst at Citibank in Wilmington, Delaware. He also had the honor of being named “Soldier of the Year” while serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Ed was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Michael’s Church. He was an avid golfer at Buena Vista Country Club where he won many club championships and enjoyed time spent with friends. He also liked playing the horses, sports of all kinds and the deer woods in Vineland. Ed loved his family and looked forward to getting together on the holidays and birthdays when he also enjoyed cooking for the family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Geraldine Plucinski (nee Gergen) of Gibbstown; his children, Mark (Wendy Cranmer) of National Park, Edmund William (Noreen Haney) of Gibbstown, Joan of Gibbstown; his grandchildren, Mark Robert, John, Eddie and Kelly Plucinski, Michael Plucinski; great granddaughter, Zoie; and his sister, Frances Mendoza of California. Mr. Plucinski was predeceased by his brothers, Andrew and Walter and his sisters, Wanda, Josephine and Sister Euphronia Plucinski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Thursday October 9, 2014 in St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Michael’s Church, 313 Memorial Ave., Gibbstown. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Thursday morning from 9 to 10AM in the McBride – Foley Funeral Home, 228 W. Broad St., Paulsboro.
