John "Jake" Lazevnick

John J. “Jake” Lazevnick age 89 years of Paulsboro died Tuesday January 24, 2012 surrounded by his family in his home. Jake was born and raised in Duryea, PA and was a United States Navy Pilot during World War II. He moved to Paulsboro in 1953 to teach at Paulsboro High School, where he was later the Principal. Jake later retired as Principal of Delran Middle School. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Paulsboro and the Knights of Columbus Queen of Heaven Council #4154. Jake also served on the Paulsboro Board of Education, Planning Board and Library Board. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Lazevnick (nee Taylor) of Paulsboro; his children, Mary Beth and John Dean of West Deptford, John and Denise Lazevnick of Horsham, PA, Joseph and Elaine Lazevnick of Westlake, Ohio; his grandchildren, Brent, Ashley, Brianne, John, Jennifer, James and Thomas; his sister, Lucille Lazevnick and his brothers, Edward Lazevnick and Bernard and Laura Lazevnick, all of Pittston, PA. Mr. Lazevnick was predeceased by his son, Jim Lazevnick., A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday January 28, 2012 in St. John’s R.C. Church, 7th and Beacon Aves., Paulsboro. Friends may call Friday evening from 7 to 9 PM and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the McBride - Foley Funeral Home, 228 W. Broad St., Paulsboro. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to St. Vincent De Paul Society, c/o St. Claire of Assisi Church, 140 Broad St., Swedesboro, NJ 08085.
